What kind of things are landlords looking for when they check your credit to rent a home? bad credit

If you are renting from a property management company, it is likely that they will check your credit. On the other hand, if you are renting from a private landlord that has only one or two pieces of rental property, chances are that your credit won%26#039;t be checked. Most small landlords do not have access to credit reports and are unwilling to spend the money for them. They usually pride themselves on their ability to judge character when it comes to renting their properties. While they may not check your credit, they may make a couple of phone calls to check out the information you provide in your application.

Your potential landlord is likely to have you fill out some kind of generic rental application. Sometimes, they will verify your place of employment and they may call your previous landlords to find out if you paid your rent on time. It is a roll of the dice as to whether or not a landlord will go to this trouble.

In the end, you should be able to rent a home even if you have bad credit.

Good luck with your search for a new place to live.

What kind of things are landlords looking for when they check your credit to rent a home? bad credit o.k.?

I think job stability is the most important. Bad credit can be forgiven. They want to make sure that you can make the payment ontime, everytime.

Sometimes when you have bad credit they may want a bigger deposit. They just want to make sure you can pay you bills on time. This lets them know if your going to be late alot or skip out on rent.

Do I have to let a potential employer check my credit?

Is it really any of their business?

Do I have to let a potential employer check my credit?

No, you don%26#039;t have to let them but they may withdraw the job offer from you. I don%26#039;t agree with it either. People%26#039;s Credit Reports are PRIVATE and it should be limited to who ask for them unless you are purchasing a house, car or getting a credit card offer from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc. It%26#039;s a good reason to pull your credit report, but just to apply for a job, it is unnecessary %26amp; ridiculous. I really hope that the Government will put a stop to this soon. Some companies are NOSY. Also, you have to becareful because every time you show your credit to companies who%26#039;s not even granting you credit, you become vulnerable to IDENTITY THEFT.

Do I have to let a potential employer check my credit?

Do you want the job?

Do I have to let a potential employer check my credit?

There%26#039;s NO LAW that saids yur employer can%26#039;t demand yur credit score

Do I have to let a potential employer check my credit?

They can ask you but if you dont allow it than they cant. They cant force you but if you say no that will just tell them that your credit sucks and will come up with some BS and hire someone else who is more %26quot;qualified%26quot; than you are.

The reason why they check your credit history is because they want to know if you have accounts that will become possible wage garnishments, etc. It costs and is an inconvenience to employers to get your wages garnished.

Good Luck

Do I have to let a potential employer check my credit?

Anymore in this day and age, if you want the job? The answer is yes.

If you were the employer, you would understand why this is so important.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Can they legally tell you that you%26#039;re not hired?

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

I suppose you probably could, but that would look totally suspicious and you would risk them not taking the time to take you seriously.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Yes you can, but they will not hire you.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Sure. And they will refuse and not hire you. YOu saved them the trouble.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

yes...you can legally ask just about any question you want to...but as always you have to deal with the consequences for asking questions or doing actions

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

I%26#039;m afraid that most employers do that, as is their right. It would be better not to say anything %26amp; maybe if they need you enough, they won%26#039;t bother to check.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

You can ASK whatever you like, but if a credit check is part of the application process and you voluntarily turn in an application, you%26#039;re giving permission to check your credit.

That might be a big deal breaker and get your application tossed to the %26quot;Don%26#039;t Bother%26quot; pile.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

No, the reason i know is because i do this for a company, BUT the good news is that when employers say that, they typical don%26#039;t because of the cost... NOW if your applying for a job at a credit card company.. the your S.O.L.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Yes you can and it is a plus if you tell them why. Some people do that when they are trying to purchase something large...house, car, etc...and dont want the inquiry to effect their credit score. They will understand that if they have ever bought anything of that nature.

If you just state to them that you do not want your credit checked, they just might assume the worst and discard your application without further thought.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

OK... Credit? Why would an Employer check your credit history? Background check ok because they want to make sure you dont have a legal background that is outstanding, but who cares if you didnt pay your Macys Bill.... U need a JOB so you can Pay it...

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Why would he want to check your credit rating. You are not asking for a loan. They can check your police record, that is compulsory in a lot of jobs.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

You can legally ask just about anything you want to. If you have credit problems, you might want to explain the situation to your prospective employer.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

You could though it probably won%26#039;t look very good.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

You can, but if they did not plan they will know that you have bad credit and not hire you. I personally think it is wrong for companies to check credit reports and deny people a way to improve their financial circumstance.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

an employer has no right asking your credit rating anyway .it is not part of your employment credentials that you have a good rating...the only thing he should ask is if you have a criminal record, your credit rating is your own private business ,the exception maybe is if you are getting a loan from him but as i would imagine repayment would be taken at source(from your wages) then it would not be of any real interest to an employer.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

ask away....i think you will be throwing up a red flag and no job

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Yes ,you can do that and then continue to look for miracle to happen in another establishment for yourself.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Why would they need to check your credit in the first place? They may want a police report but credit check - that sounds strange to me...

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Don%26#039;t even ask. They won%26#039;t check your credit anyway. I%26#039;ve been hiring people for 12 years and have never done a credit check. Sometimes a criminal background check but that%26#039;s it.

Can I legally ask an employer not to check my credit when applying for a new job?

Is it true that everytime you ask or check your credit score, your score is diminish and your credibility expo

It only drops a point or two. The theory behind this is the more people asking about your credit, the more extended you can be if your credit is approved.

Is it true that everytime you ask or check your credit score, your score is diminish and your credibility expo

The more inquiries in a short amount of time the worse.

Is it true that everytime you ask or check your credit score, your score is diminish and your credibility expo

Every inquiry shows up on your report, too many could put you at risk of being denied credit.

Is it true that everytime you ask or check your credit score, your score is diminish and your credibility expo

yes this is true. I think if you aren%26#039;t awarded credit following an enquiry you lose points as they assume you were declined credit by a credit company.

Is it true that everytime you ask or check your credit score, your score is diminish and your credibility expo

if you check your credit yourself doesnt do anything ,but if a company get an inqueries yes only 1 or 2 points

Who do you contact if you can%26#039;t check you credit score online. If there could be a security freeze on it?

Contact the credit bureau that you contacted to put the security freeze on your file.

Who do you contact if you can%26#039;t check you credit score online. If there could be a security freeze on it?

You would have to contact the help section of whichever site you are using. Hopefully you have gone straight to the source (TransUnion, Equifax or Experian) as opposed to some 3rd party site.

Any-who, if you attempted to put in some information trying to verify that it%26#039;s you and the information was not accepted, it *should* give you information about who to contact. You will then have to prove that you are you in some other manner.

I am a PRIVATE lender; I wan to check the credit score and history of a BORROWER; WHERE, HOW, and is

You can not pull a credit report on another person. As for free, why would it be free? The bank I work for has to pay every time we pull one.

The best idea is to sit with the borrower at a computer, have them go online and buy thier own credit report and score. Then print and give you a copy.

Maybe first to go to FTC.gov the person can get a free credit report, no credit score is provided. Then you can see if thier credit really bad or good, maybe you don%26#039;t need a score.

Unsolicited advice, lending money seems easy, and since you don%26#039;t understand how credit reporting works, you probably don%26#039;t understand the risk. But as long as you can afford to lose what you are lending you are OK. Good luck.

I am a PRIVATE lender; I wan to check the credit score and history of a BORROWER; WHERE, HOW, and is it free?

You probably can%26#039;t get an account with the credit bureaus as they%26#039;ve become very picky about who they sell data to due to increased public regulation. Your best bet is to ask the borrower to run his/her own report and give it to you.

I am a PRIVATE lender; I wan to check the credit score and history of a BORROWER; WHERE, HOW, and is it free?

you can%26#039;t

if however you are a private lender then you can afford to order a report
