Got a negative balance on credit card, do they send me a check?

I received a refund after my statements closing date, so now i am showing a negative amount. What happens now? Do I have to ask them to send me a check for it or does it happen automatically? The credit card is Amex Blue.

This happened to me once, and they left the negative balance on the card for one or two billing cycles, then they sent a check. It probably varies between companies though. For me, the negative balance was very small so I didn%26#039;t mind leaving it on the card for a while in case I used it again.

If you would prefer the refund immediately you should probably call to confirm that they send a check out as soon as possible.

Unless you close the account they don%26#039;t send you a refund check for that negative balance. They%26#039;ll just subtract that from your next charge. So it%26#039;s sorta like you%26#039;ve made an advance payment on a future purchase on that card.

most credit card companys will just apply that to your future balances but if you like you could call them and ask that they send you a check but expect a long wait

This happens to me all the time. I have a different kind of credit card than you, but I%26#039;m sure they%26#039;re all the same. They will not give you the money back. It will just show as a credit on your statement that will go toward your next purchase. I doubt any credit card company will have the time or patience to write checks to everyone who does that when they%26#039;ll just be writing them another check in a month%26#039;s time for future purchases. If you specifically asked for the money, that might be a different story. If you really want it, can you do a cash withdrawl from your credit account? That would probably work. Or, can you write a check from your credit account to yourself? That%26#039;s all I can suggest.

They apply that to your future balances as a credit. This is a good thing to over pay once in a while. They will increase your credit limit many times.

If i know that i am going to make a big buy i will over pay just to hold that money.

Keep those cards at zero or in the black each month.
