I am pretty sure you can only check your own.

How do I check someones credit?

You can%26#039;t legally just check anyone%26#039;s credit.

According to the law there has to be %26quot;Permissible Purpose%26quot; i.e., you are potentially going to hire them, rent them an apartment/house or if you are a business you are going to lend them money.

And as an individual you can%26#039;t get any information from the credit bureaus directly on anybody but yourself.

If you have rentals and want to check credit you will have to use a tenant screening service(they can provide the paperwork)

The same goes for potential employment.

YOu need a SIGNED authorization form for this person. The credit company may also need documentation of the nature of your request and the nature of your relationshp with this person. If you don%26#039;t have a legitimate company or rental situation this may be hard to do.If you have a legitimate reason, just ask the person to provide a copy him/herself.
