How many points you lose when they check your credit to buy a car? is it the same for a credit card?

Auto finance is what I do for a living and the answer is between 3-5 points. All pulls made in a 14-day period will be lumped together and only count as one, they will all show but your credit will only get dinged once.

Yes, it%26#039;s the same for a credit card except they all count as a hard pull.

You can not provide your own credit report to a dealer, they must pull their own because this is the only way for the Finance Manager to know where to send your application to get you the best deal. They know which lenders look at which bureaus so this information is critical to them.

It really erks me when people say that myfico is the only score that lenders look at, this is simply not true. All lenders have their own default bureau based on Zip codes and whichever it is, is the one that they are going to look at period.

I%26#039;m not sure, but I think around 20. Maybe less. Usually dealerships know the way to check your credit without hurting it. That%26#039;s what was done with mine when I was buying the car. You can print out complete credit report from freecreditreport.com and show it to them. When you check your credit yourself, you don%26#039;t lose points. it%26#039;s a well-known fact

You can check your own credit score and it won%26#039;t effect your credit at all. You should do it before you go car shopping, to make sure it%26#039;s accurate when the dealership pulls it. If you visit a few dealerships within 2-3 weeks it will only effect your score once- they know you%26#039;re shopping. However, for legal reasons, a car dealership will not accept a copy of a credit report. They will need to pull it themselves if they are going to offer you financing.

Unless you pull it many times aver the course of several weeks it will have no (ZERO) impact on your score. If you have many other pulls from prior use then there could be a drop.

Second ONLY www.MyFICO.com has your real score. If you pull your own credit before making a large purchase MyFICO is the only place to pull your score if you want to know what the dealer is going to see.
