i have a xircom credit card ethernet card and the device manager says that the hardware version is not available,but the device is working properly

how do i check if it still works?

coz i cant connect to ethernet and i need to know whether it is a problem with the conn or the lan card - hardware or software

Just find your product at this website:

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-...

and download the product. Then go into the properties again and choose to reinstall the driver, using the downloaded driver.

it probably is working with generic drivers, go to the website and download teh latest driver and install it
