but this all goes back to the old saying, %26quot;actions speak louder than words%26quot; they are looking at your habits..those are actions on which they can base a judgment. Yes experience is a great asset as well but not the total sum of the equation.
Lets say in your case you made some bad choices or circumstances led you to where you are, a good option may be to announce this in your application. Maybe a cover letter or something explaining that you built a crazy beginning when you were young, and then list some things you have accomplished since then, show a history (even if new) that you are improving your situation. Honesty and integrity go along way. A good employer will consider all areas and achievements.
