I've been told that everytime I view/check my credit/credit score, the score decreases. Is that

If I have a membership with companies such as Experian and Transunion and I log in frequently to check for any changes, does that decrease the score?

I%26#039;ve been told that everytime I view/check my credit/credit score, the score decreases. Is that true?

No! It is not true. You checking your own credit report does nothing to the score. The only %26quot;checking%26quot; of your report that will affect your score is a %26quot;hard inquiry%26quot; which is the credit check that banks and lenders do when you apply for credit.

Also, when you are shopping around for the best rate for a car or home loan, all inquiries in a 14 day period count as one.

To see all aspects of your credit score and what affects it, see the site below.

I%26#039;ve been told that everytime I view/check my credit/credit score, the score decreases. Is that true?

No it doesn%26#039;t. It does if someone is checking your credit as a result of you applying for credit

I%26#039;ve been told that everytime I view/check my credit/credit score, the score decreases. Is that true?

not true, a credit check is called an inquiry, you are allowed 4 checks every 90 days, after the 5th one you lose 4 pts for every subsquent check, the scores stays off for 90 days but the inquiry stays on for 2 years so other lenders can see what you have been doing. we in the trades call it shopping, i have seen customers do 200 shopping trips for a mortgage and kill themselves for 90days. the lenders dont know whether you are looking for one loan or a dozen loans, so like riding a horse they use this as the reins to %26quot;whoa%26quot; you down. lol, dont check it more than 4 times in 90 days

I have been told that, but I doubt it is true. With the way things are going, we could fart and have it affect our credit score.

(I was being sarcastic, as usual...have a sense of humor, ppl)

Checking your own credit score isn%26#039;t an inquiry. It won%26#039;t affect your score.

But there%26#039;s really no need to check it more often than once a month at most. It%26#039;s not going to change more often than that. You%26#039;ll drive yourself crazy being that obsessive.

Fico score ratings are used for most mortgage lending, which means, you need to know what will hurt or help your credit score points. To make it clear, here are some of the most common credit score myths.

* Checking your credit report will hurt your credit score

Checking your own credit report and credit score counts as a soft inquiry and does not go against your score. However, if anyone else like a lender or credit card company is checking your credit report, this is considered a hard inquiry and will generally knock off about 5 credit score points.

The credit score rating system treats multiple inquiries in a 14-day period as just one inquiry. The system ignores all inquiries made within 30 days prior to the day the credit score is computed. So if you want to minimize the damage from credit inquiries, shop for a loan in that short period of time.

How often are you looking at your credit? There are site you can join and stay up to date with any changes.

The way this works is your are notified if any changes are made to your credit reports by e-mail. This is so you don%26#039;t have to pull your report over and over.
