Can someone tell me the easiest way to check your credit rating?

I tried Equifax and experian and they said they were having trouble getting the information, which I think was because she moved. What if she tried to get a credit card? Wouldn%26#039;t that mean her credit is good if she got the credit card? The reason we are so concerned about her credit rating is because some very poor friends of hers recently got 6 or 7 credit cards and we think they stole her identity. She is only 19 years old, what should she do? Should she go to a lawyer?

You are allowed to get a free report, from each of the three major agencies.

Just go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get it.

Don%26#039;t confuse this one with the ones that charge you to join a service. This was set up to be free. You will not need to enter any credit card information.

Good Luck!!

If she thinks her identity may have been stolen, she could contact the fraud phone numbers for each of the major credit bureaus. Even if she has gotten a free credit report this year from them, they will cooperate with her by sending her a copy of her report. They will require adequate information from her to prove that she is who she says she is, and I%26#039;d guess that%26#039;s why she%26#039;s having trouble.

She has other recourse if she believes her identity has been stolen. She can put a freeze on her credit file which will prevent anybody getting credit by way of that file without her directly giving specific permission.

She needs to make those phone calls to Experian, Equifax, TransUnion, now! Have her prepared to provide proof of her identity. The credit file will be mailed to her, so be certain that her address change has been provided to the Post Office.

DONT GO TO FREECREDITREPORT.COM. They ended up charging me 25.00. actually the free credit report site is annualcreditreport.com freecreditreport.com will ask for a credit card number, then bill you for %26quot;triple advantage.%26quot; which is how you get the report in the first place.

I%26#039;m totally confused by your question. What do you mean that Equifax and Experian are having trouble getting the information? It%26#039;s either there or it%26#039;s not!

If the problem is they are not sure of her identity, then she simply has to send the correct info...drivers license, SS Card, copies of utility bills....just follow the directions they give.

Once you have received the report you will quickly know if her ID has been stolen.

I see no reason at all to get a lawyer involved...the laws are quite clear on everything related to your credit.

If you need help contact me and I%26#039;ll walk you through all this.

I am not a lawyer or credit counselor, just someone who has been down this road before.

Have you ever thought about how many people in our country don%26#039;t have a perfect credit score? You will surely be surprised to know that over 30 million Americans have a below average credit score. Boosting your credit rating takes some work. There is no quick fix to increasing your ratings. Repairing any damage takes time, but it also does not spell doom!

So what is credit rating anyways? It is a number given to assess and reflect your creditworthiness. Your credit score will be a number valued from 300 to 850. While numerous factors can be attributed towards this rating, your payment and debt history are more important than others.

To start with, you shall need a copy of your credit report. If everything in the reports is good, then you can be rest assured that you will have a good credit score. Getting your credit reports is easy and pain free. Actually you are permitted one free copy of your credit report, every year.
