Employers look at peoples credit to see how they handle their debt. And to look at their public records.
Because people are creatures of habit, they assume that if you are not responsible with your credit you will not be responsible in your professional live.
They also look at it for security reasons. If they are looking to fill a position that requires the handling of large amounts of cash, they want to make sure that you will not be tempted to steal from them or be able to be blackmailed.
Why do employers ask to check your credit?
If you%26#039;re in a job where you could potentially handle a lot of money, and you need to pay off debts, a potential employer might consider you a security or theft risk. If you%26#039;re not going to be in a money-handling position, and are not in a position of national security (the idea there being that you could be bribed), then I certainly would think twice about allowing them to check my credit.
Why do employers ask to check your credit?
generally they would because they want to hire someone they can trust. someone with a very low credit score *might* not be as responsible with money and they need you to be. Also, if you owe a bunch of money and have bankrupsty or something potentially huge, they see that as a risk for them because you can steal from them to pay your debts.
